5 years after Matt Damon’s Bourne series gave a swift kick in you-know-where as a sober, thinking man’s Bond to the espionage drama, Mark Wahlberg is looking to repeat the same success story with the Swagger series penned by Stephen Hunter. Only, while Robert Ludlum’s Bourne series has been a spy pulp fiction classic, Hunter has always been a none-too-serious spy novel writer; Antoine Fuqua, despite Training Day’s shimmer, is still a poor man’s Paul Greengrass.
The combination is deadly enough to make Swagger a poor man’s Bourne. I hate to say....
