Ho hum - another week, another Shakila movie. Sometimes I wonder if this spate
of movies is more taxing on her or on us poor reviewers.
Fortunately the law of averages has caught up with Shakila, and she's finally done a movie that does hold your interest. No, not because there's a lot of soft porn or she's pulling off some earthshaking role (that she routinely does, considering her dimensions), but because there is a decent storyline and, wonder of wonders, it doesn't revolve around Shakila!
Rekha (Shakila) lives with her brother Rajesh. She's watching the neighbour do some exercises, and in a superhuman effort to emulate him, falls and hurts herself. This provides the opportunity for the neighbour, Pradeep, to come over and introduce himself. He slowly wins her over and proposes marriage.
Pradeep eventually dupes Rekha of 5 lakhs and jewelry and pushes off. We are then shown how he's duped three or four other women similarly in the past, under different identities. His new scheme is to open a clinic. He hires a nurse who eventually hands him over to the police just before he's about to marry a young heiress. He's running from the police when, in a sudden twist, Shakila emerges from nowhere to kill him in true Goddess Durga style.
This is a short review because the movie itself is only about an hour long. Like
I said, this is not the typical Shakila movie. The guy playing Pradeep carries
the whole film and makes for at least partially interesting viewing. For other
potentially 'interesting' parts, please contact the censor board.
