Refn and Gosling's rare foray into the realm of commercial cinema will be better appreciated in locations where it does not get butchered by the censors, where it is not released in the smallest multiplex cinema available, in 1 obscure show that does not allow true(Indie)cinema afficianados to view it, and where audiences end up appreciating the art of film-making,instead of being high on assembly-line fare like Transformers and expecting more of the same.It would have also helped if the script has not been as derivative as the one chosen, and perhaps re-worked to some extent by someone like William Monahan(Departed's adaptation). As it is,the pitch-perfect casting works well, with only Brooks playing against type here, and looking all the better for it(he has not had a good time of late),and even Isaac joining the party to give a good account of himself(his performance being 1 of the the only good things abt 'Sucker punch',btw).Enjoyed it.
