Adam walked up to Eve and said, "Have we met before?" And lo! Pick-up lines were
born. A few millennia later, Anubhav Sinha calls his follow-up to that freak hit
Tum Bin, the same name. Bate your breath well mes dames and messieurs, 'cos this
flick is the pits!
This movie is not about pick-up lines. Nor is it about the father-daughter sentiment. This flick is all about how good money (lots of it) can go into making a horrendous flick. It drifts from the word go with Om Puri fuming as Priyanshu Chatterjee paws Sakshi Sivanand. Later we know that Puri is Sam who is Paakhi's (Sakshi) dad and he is trying to get used to the fact that his daughter has fallen in love with Samar (Priyanshu). Father Of The Bride? You wish!
Samar is also a cop suspended for letting Jojo, a criminal in his custody, get away. So he's followed the fugitive to Canada and spends his time singing with Paakhi or following Cindy (Jojo's girlfriend). Unable to bear the excitement? You are given a 10-minute interval.
The second half has more singing and more Cindy-chasing, and Sam gets in the spirit and starts shadowing Priyanshu. Nail-biting stuff this! More songs as the going gets too hot. Some melodrama and dad-daughter sentiment for the kerchief weilders. Finally a shoot-out scene with gonna be father-in-law-son-in-law pair kicking ass.
The movie meanders like the Musi did in it's meandering days. It is as pointless as every peace-policy Musharraf offers. It is as frustrating as the last day of teenhood spent trying to lose dreaded virginity. Oh eloquence, where art thou!
Priyanshu is able but wasted. Sakshi is facially challenged as every contortion (read acting effort) of her pretty face leaves you in splits. Some scenes where she tries to match the poetic lyrics with motions are hilarious in particular. Om Puri has seen the deepest trough of his career graph. And the rest of the people hitched the ride to see Canada.
We've said it folks and you've read it. "Have we met before?" is a cliché to be
avoided like the plague. The same applies to this film. And in case you still
don't get it, stay away or you will get your brains picked, pickled and presented
to you with pink candy!
