This movie marked the debut of Pavan Kalyan, the youngest brother of mega-star
Chiranjeevi. It apparently ran for 100 days, and the fickle nature of the audiences
is solely to blame for the success. It happens ever so often that a movie which
has nothing to offer turns out to be a box office hit. The only reason one can
come up with is that masses thronged in to see the brother of Chiranjeevi. It
is not that Pavan Kalyan is not competent, it's just that the movie is stale
and boring.
The story begins in a village in rural Andhra that is controlled by two families,
the heads of which are Sharat Babu and Nasser. All trouble starts when Nasser's
brother woos Sharat Babu's sister and later refuses to marry her. What else
can she do? She commits suicide. What else would Sharat Babu do? He kills Nasser's
brother. The end result, a major feud and the village is split into two (we
told you). Why are we reminded of an Aamir-Juhi movie?
A quick fast forward and it is twenty years later. We are in a college in Vijaywada,
and the hero of the college is of course, Pavan Kalyan. It is time for some
cheap humor, thrills and spills. And then, one fine day, Supriya (also making
her debut) joins the college. How Supriya made it to the silver screen as a
heroine is mystifying. She lacks everything from looks to talent. Initially
these two youngsters hate each other but eventually fall in love (we told you).
The world of the two lovers is torn apart when it is revealed that they belong
to opposite sides of the warring clans.
Thus begins the excruciating saga of separated lovers with all the usual unnecessary
nonsense and at the end we have a rather predictable happy ending. The only
highlight of the movie is a martial arts display by Pavan Kalyan who is a third
degree black in karate. The songs are okay and so is the cinematography. The
rest is just painfully mediocre
