Money Monster - A not-so-tense thriller involving a supremely talented cast telling a very engaging story. Was great to see George Clooney and Julia Roberts together :)
Lee Gates is a renowned host for a tv show - Money Monster, who advises his viewers on what stocks to buy and what to sell - and very graphically at that. He bets on a stock IBIS which is an investment company that boasts of superfast transaction speed and an algorithm that guarantees high returns. When the stock plummets, Lee still wants his viewers to buy the stock, so they can make profits later. But bad luck would have it, the stock price goes even lower. At the receiving end of this is Kyle, a truck driver, who has lost everything he had in this stock, since he faithfully followed Lee's advice. Kyle walks into the studio and takes Lee and the crew as hostages and demands some answers for his question. How could IBIS lose 800 million $ in a day??? He doesn't buy the answer that was generally accepted by the public - a glitch. Thus begins the quest for truth, and how Patty, the director of the show and Lee play out to keep everyone alive, even as they start believing in Kyle.
Performances were awesome but to me the flaw was in directing the film. It could have been a very tense thriller but it ends up being an oh-so-predictable emotional drama. But it doesn't fail to entertain... if you have already seen Captain America and there is nothing else to watch this weekend, Money Monster is a safe bet.. though I wouldn't go triple on it

The terrible ones we know we don't listen to more than once. But what of the songs that get airtime with you of less than or equal to ten plays? We don't shun them but we don't pay much attention either. Money Monster is the film equivalent of such songs – you'll pay it some attention, but only so much.
The film has George Clooney playing Lee Gates, the egotistical and glib host of a loud and garish financial TV show cal....
