Hera Pheri Review

Just one look at the promos and posters of Hera Pheri and you know what to expect - fun, frolic and laughter. A pleasant delight is what this Priyadarshan film aims to be, and succeeds to a great extent in tickling your funny bones. There is enough energy, enthusiasm and laughter packed into this remake of the Malayalam hit, Ramji Rao Speaking.

Hera Pheri is the story of three guys who plan to dupe a kidnapper (Gulshan Grover) and ultimately get themselves into trouble. Sunil Shetty, Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal get into a kidnapping plot, thanks to their telephone, which has a penchant for receiving wrong numbers.

Instead of flexing their biceps, Sunil and Akshay have concentrated on giving good performances. But the best of the lot is Paresh Rawal, with his ridiculously thick glasses and white starched dhoti. I would say Paresh Rawal deserves full credit and applause for this film.

Tabu is nowhere to be seen. One wonders why Priyadarshan did this to his favourite actress. The songs penned by Sameer are good and Anu Malik seems to have done a lot of homework. Overall, this comedy has power to make hundreds of people laugh - the best medicine needed for this busy city life.
