Maa Aavidameedottu Mee Aavida Chala Manchidi Review

The title smacks of infidelity. But if you think that the lead lady's intentions of eloping with her neighbour's husband, who happens to be her former lover, are a sign of adultery, then you are mistaken. For she doesn't intend to sleep with him - she actually wants to marry him. So what do you call it? Infidelity, or liberation from a lifeless marriage?

We call it nonsense. E V V Satyanarayana is famous for inundating his films with rollicking laughter, but there is none of that here. And there is no spark in the treatment of the subject, in the comedy or in the way that the lead cast conducts itself.

As the curtains go up, Raasi and Naveen decide to elope and get married at an unknown destination. But Naveen's father Kota Srinivasa Rao wants to marry his sister's daughter Laya to Naveen, and coming to know of Naveen's intentions, injures him badly so that he cannot take that extreme step. An awaiting Raasi is also dragged home by her parents and married off to Srikant in 15 days flat. And Naveen, coming to know of Raasi's marriage, ties the knot to Laya.

Everyone forgets about the incident, but it is so deeply embedded in Raasi's heart that she refuses to yield to Srikant, who is a classic example of an ideal husband. He bears with all her egoistic ways hoping that some day she would realize his true worth.

But Raasi has other plans. When she comes to know that Naveen is living next door to her, she coerces him into eloping with her. A stunned Naveen does his best to avoid that, but is soon overpowered by her convincing talk, and so they both elope to Goa to get married. If you are a regular cinegoer you would be able to predict the outcome of the movie.

The film is stupid and uninteresting. And even when it should have logically ended, the director refuses to say cut and the film plods on till Prakash Raj comes in the end to deliver long-winding dialogues on how everyone has sacrificed his life to keep four people happy.

There can be nothing more contrived than this movie - the one's who've seen it will swear on their spouses.
