Ragada has Nagarjuna playing a guy from Kadapa who speaks in the Telangana dialect. It's so illogical that you know that the director must also be aware of that, and all your Telugu movie-watching experience tells you that it will be explained in the end, and that the explanation will be a load of BS. Well, it's not. Explained, that is. That's like someone you have contempt for, not even remembering your name.

That also explains the IQ behind Ragada in general. Nagarjuna's last release disappeared from the theatres in 3-4 weeks, and Ragada looks like it'll plumb the same depths. Made on a shoestring script and lavish denial, it happily believes in itself. The film has no strong core theme or structure, it doesn't care about appearing even remotely logical, it completely lacks romance, and the plot requires an IQ close to your mobile number to understand it. Plus, there's formula all around - 2 heroines, completely uninspired songs, ridiculous fights, and a hero made out to be God. If it were not for a comedy track featuring Brahmanandam, this movie would set your life back by a few years.

Satya (Nagarjuna) is a native of Kadapa who lands in Hyderabad and directly runs into a gang war with shootouts happening. He single-handedly beats up all the goons of one side, and no one shoots him even though he's a sitting duck - the general theme of the movie. The leader of the other side, GK, is grateful to him, and makes him a partner in business. A lot of villians are now introduced, and very soon you lose track of who is against whom and for what.

In the process Satya runs into Sireesha (Anushka), who falls in love with him.You also figure out that Satya has a violent flashback in Kadapa (like everyone else in Andhra Pradesh). Also entering Satya's life with her parents and brother is Ananthalakshmi (Priyamani), an orthodox brahmin girl who he rescues from some goons in his spare time. This appears pretty much like a sidetrack to the main story, but quickly everything gets entangled with everything else, and to all the issues in your life that make you feel inadequate and worthless, the plot of this one gets added.

Standing out in Ragada is the hero speaking in the Telangana dialect - perhaps the first time that a mainstream hero has done in Tollywood. And in a bid to avoid alienating other audiences in these troubled times, the hero's native place is shown to be Kadapa. And, like we said, things are left at that. Director Veeru Potla doesn't see any other issues, like perhaps audiences wondering why a person brought up in Kadapa would speak the dialect of another region. More importantly, this is attention-grabbing in itself, and distracts from the actual movie.

The film seems incoherent for the most part, with too many characters plotting too many things. The movie is rated A, too, and there's a reason for it - plenty of gory violence. And a lot of it meaningless, confusing, and incapable of engaging you. As we've said, there are numerous villians, no one of them is characterized strongly enough for you to await his decimation by the hero, and that results in a strong good-evil core premise missing. The fights themselves are also way too unrealistic even by Tollywood standards - the climax fight particularly so.

While the comedy, especially involving Brahmanandam, is generally entertaining, the dialogue-writing oscillates between good and mediocre, with the latter increasingly predominant - the dialogues in the climax are particularly a feast for people wanting to die.

Nagarjuna is his usual self, but the movie has the feel of an ode to him - constant lines praising his looks, including by the villians, make the film feel more like a resuscitation effort for the career of the star than like professional story-telling. Anushka and Priyamani look like they've been shoehorned in; there's no courtship - an evergreen draw - and there's no role for them except for the glamour factor. Actors like Kota too are wasted with pointless presences, and Brahmanandam ends up being the best part of the movie.

The songs are forced into the movie in the most archaic manner of Tollywood, and the music is painfully mass-y. Also, for a film that tries to be politically correct, Ragada makes too much fun of brahmins.

On the whole, this one is likely to have only a blink-and-miss presence in theatres, and even if you don't blink, you should miss it.

What Nagarjuna speaks in this movie is not actually Telangana dialect. It is a Rayalaseema dialect although he does not speak it with good fluency. I thoroughly enjoy fullhyd reviews in general - and such lapses on issues like this are a bit disappointing.

movie is a one time watch...
This reviewer needs to know difference between Rayalaseema and Telangana dialects..

First the reviewer doesnt know the difference between Telangana and Kadapa dialect. This itself shows the ignorance and how good this review can be. This type of bias against Telugu movie is deplorable. Agreed, we can leave this site and bring down its ratings in google search. Its not a big deal. But the public shouldnt be misguided or cheated by ignorant reviews(whether positive or negative, it should be honest, which isnt the case here). I guess the one who wrote this review has written for timepass. If someone doesnt know to respect their profession, its the worst thing to happen. They are being paid to do this job. They are not doing any favour by writing this type of misleading stories. Hope someone knowledgeable about movies writes the reviews in future..

Pros: nagarjuna's looks, style, comedy, music

Seems like full hyd reviewers are against Telugu movies. Why so much hate guys. You folks are suffering from " Poruginti pulla kurra ruchi".

Movie is not great but it do has some entertainment. If this movie is remade in Hindi, it will be titled dabang 2 and full hyd will give it some 7 or 8 rating.

I agree with the editorial review in some parts. But the accent spoken by Nag is of Rayalaseema only and not of Telangana.
The movie lacks story and screenplay. Heroines are only glam dolls. It will be better not to discuss about the songs. Tracks of Thaman are very poor (worried about how he will give music for Dukudu). Only good thing is the comedy of Brahmi.. Without that, movie would have been even worst.. Fights are very unrealistic, especially the climax fight. Its a typical tollywood flick which has the hero killing 20 people in opening shot, 30 people in interval shot and 50 people in climax shot..
Not worth to watch it..

Pros: Brahmi and Nag
Cons: Apart from brahmi and nag, everything

I dont agree with the editorial review fully. But the movie started off on a great high and then towards the second half, it slowly became worse. I do agree that there was lot of anti-brahmin dialogue in the cinema. This will upset brahmins and christian episode will upset christians also. Nag should be more careful. Experimenting and opportunities should be given only to those who dont publicly abuse certain castes/religions. The writer/director made himself look like a cheap person with very low moral and social values by being anti-brahmin, anti-christian and also constantly showing nag smoking. Hopefully nag realizes this soon and doesnt waste time with such people in future. Bad movie is ok, but he cant afford to alienate large sections of audience like this.

Pros: Nag, Brahmanandam, Anushka and songs
Cons: Writer, director

Wake up guys. I am not sure if you are fan or Fullhyd reviewer itself. If you are a fan try to give inputs in improving the site. Who said I dont like the site. I just commented on the review and reviewer's attitude. The reviewer did not even take care of checking what slang the hero is speaking in the movie. But claims that it is telangana slang. Being a fan do you want to see such reviews. In a democratic country you hold a gun to force people to do something you better know where you will end up.

Boss, it's simple. You don't like a website, go browse something else.

No one's holding a gun to people and forcing them to read fullhyd's reviews. I guess we know now who needs introspection!

Sc13175, Agreed its a english portal, but that does not mean that it is just used as a platform to showcasing english writing skills. Primary importance should have been for writing a helpful review. I also agree that it is not for endorsing fanboy view but at the same time I also hope that Fullhyd's intention of having movie reviews is to give usefull and correct reviews to help the audience rather than letting the reviewers write whatever they want to write. Please check that your ratings offlate are completely out of line with ratings on rest of the web sites. I am sure that other sites also have good reviewers and they are not endorsing fan views or their personal views. It would be good if you can do some introspection rather than suggesting the readers where to look for reviews. This just shows your arrogance.

Krishna, you can enjoy idlebrain review. This movie got a 3/5 and praise on nag's "gorgeous" looks. As you say there are different genres of movies, same holds true for reviews. I see many comments about reviewer showing off their english and what not(not just in FullHyd). Its an english portal for crying out loud. If you cannot handle the english or the style, there are other options. Point of a reviews is not to endorse fanboy views. Read all reviews you want to but follow those that agree with your taste and you will be at peace.

This is the most irrelevant review that I have seen in years. I guess this reviewer does not even have the guts to put his name against the review. I frequently see the word 'IQ' in the reviews of fullhyd and only in fullhyd you find this word being used so frequently for movie reviews. Not sure what these guys think of their IQ. I definitely feel these guys are good for nothing and their IQ's are less than absolute ZERO. I have a few questions to the reviewer. Are you trying to showcase your skills in writing sarcastic one liner or your English writing skills or your so called super IQ. Remember that movies are categorized into various genres and they are not always made to showcase the IQ of the director or improve the IQ of the viewers. Finally my advice to the reviewer is if you want to showcase your so called super IQ go and prove yourself in the relevant fields. You are a complete misfit for this job. Hope Fullhyd can come up with
