I haven't seen Urban Legends 1, but if it is anything like its sequel, I'd rather
stay away from it, thank you. Gory, unconvincing and unforgivably boring, Urban
Legends - Final Cut is a movie that does nothing to justify its rather dramatic
title. And references to Hitchcock throughout the movie only make things worse.
Amy Mayfield (Jennifer Morrison) is a student of filmmaking at a renowned film school. When Reese, a cop, gives Amy a ride to the library one cold night and shoots her mouth about students being killed at some university and how it's an urban legend, Amy decides to make her thesis movie on the subject.
Before this scene, the audience is subjected to some meaningless blood and gore that seem to have nothing to do with the movie. Anyway, as Amy goes about making the movie with the help of her classmates, things start to go very wrong. The star of the class, Trever (or is it Travis), reportedly commits suicide, the reason being a bad grade on his thesis movie that could destroy his chances at winning the prestigious Hitchcock Award (a springboard to Hollywood).
More and people begin to die or disappear, and everyone's worried. Meanwhile, Amy's busy trying to make her movie. She also meets Travis (or is it Trever?), a twin of the dead guy who insists his bro was killed and wants to find the killer.
The entire movie is utterly pointless, with disgusting and gory murders, elaborate and long-drawn chases, masked attackers with killer tendencies, gory horror tunnels and sickening dead bodies. The mystery is finally solved but you are no longer interested in what's happening. Horror this is not.
The actors do try to lend some credibility to the script, and that makes you grieve
for wasted effort. Unless any kind of gore is okay with you, keep away from this
one.
