Seems like people have completely forgotten about Amrish Puri. He's hardly appeared in any of the blockbusters in recent times. The reason for this is not known to anyone (namely us). What's even more discouraging is the fact that he's accepting movies that do not have any recognizable face from this Milky Way.
He appears again in a similar movie called Woh Tera Naam Tha. This movie, though, has a few familiar faces, namely, Amrish and Puri.
Woh Tera Naam Tha is set in 1956, telling the story of a maestro of Hindustani music, Ustad Samad Khan (Amrish Puri), and his beautiful daughter Reshma (Kanchi Kaul).
Badruddin (Gaurav Chanana) is nursing a secret passion for Reshma. Enter the suave photojournalist from Delhi, Akhtar (Arjan Bajwa), for competition. While Akhtar is in love with Reshma, too, another bubbly neighbourhood girl Naseem (Shalini Pal) is in love with Badruddin.
Amidst this passion involving four young lovers comes Nawab Hyder Ali (Rajeev Verma) and his son Basharat (Rajat Bedi). The latter is also crazy about Reshma. When all attempts to woo Reshma fail, Basharat lets loose a reign of terror, and that forms the action packed climax of the film.
Who Tera... stars Amrish Puri, Prem Chopra, Gaurav Chanana and Kanchi Kaul.
