Pyaar Impossible Review

The meek geek Abhay (Uday Chopra) has loved the chic chick Alisha (Priyanka Chopra) ever since he saw her in college. However, for 7 long years he hasn't seen her. And for 7 long years she hadn't even known he exists. And instead of keeping it that way, the makers choose to download a love story that we wish never existed.

In these 7 years, Abhay crams in his start-up company and builds a piece of software, which gets stolen by the wily Siddharth (Dino Morea) who claims he's an investor from Pinnacle Software. After a pep talk from his dad (Anupam Kher), Abhay goes to Pinnacle in Singapore to confront Siddharth. But to his surprise, Alisha turns up in the script in no time and in no clothes - she's probably the only PR head of a software firm who wears dresses and shorts that end 2 feet above her knees, to office everyday.

He goes to her home to say hello, but a lot of things happen in quick succession, none of which looks even remotely like the The End sign. Anyway, they end with Alisha mistaking Abhay for a nanny and appointing him to look after her kid. Alisha is a divorced mother with a bratty 6-year-old daughter Tanya (Advika Yadav).

Tanya is the kind of kid who, in her first meeting with you, can make your entire life flash in front of your eyes, and no self-respecting person would agree to babysit a monster like her. Fortunately, Abhay is not a self-respecting person, and so, apart from agreeing to babysit the kid, he even washes dishes and clothes, cleans the house and cooks food for Alisha's family of 2.

Meanwhile, it is revealed that Siddharth was never Siddharth, and neither is he from Pinnacle. He's actually Varun, he's out to sell the stolen software to Pinnacle, and he now starts dating Alisha. And it's not that Alisha hardly notices Abhay. She confides in him her love problems, she's grateful to have him around, and she moisturizes her legs in front of him. Really, it's not that she hardly notices him - she never notices him.

Later, Abhay tells Alisha that people fall in love with other people only for their outward beauty. Alisha is completely shocked, and wonders about whatever happened to the good old ideals of beauty within. Maybe she thought that not wearing clothes were revealing her inner beauty all this while. How Abhay gets back at Varun and how Alisha falls for him form the rest of the story.

Pyaar Impossible can be a cute movie, if you can forgive the 12,567 cliches. A stereotypical nerd and a hyperactive doll, and a story that can have only one kind of ending - it's a combination that's easy to resist, even if you've watched 3 Idiots 5 times in a row. Besides, the setting is overly foreign, and the whole effort only looks like a rip-off of Western sit-coms.

Still, Uday is pleasant and spontaneous, and has a better-etched character than the rest. Priyanka should have toned down on the caffeine and exchanged wardrobes with the kid whose clothes are longer than hers. Dino Morea is good. The child Advika Yadav looks cute and will probably grow up to be a gorgeous woman, but is given lines designed to put her parents to shame if not the rest of the grown-up world.

The look of the movie is fluffy and colourful. The music is fluffy and colourful as well. Neither is related to the fluffy feeling you'll feel after the movie is over.

Take your mobile phone along because what the movie does best is give you lots of time to check out the zillion features on it. And those on your neighbour's as well.
