The One (Hindi) Review

All the words that occur to you when you get down to describing "The One" are superlatives: worst, nastiest, lousiest, corniest... If you are an ardent follower of Baz Luhrmann who believes in "Doing one thing every day that scares you", then trust me on this; this would be your scariest day.

All that The One does is to try to cash in on the success of "The Matrix". But what it ends up being is one amorphous mass of cheap effects and ridiculously stupid action. They left the film right open for a sequel, but hope they don't even try or think about it.

The movie starts with a discourse on "The Life, Universe (oops, MultiVerse) and Everything". It makes some mind-numbing revelations, which I am sure you'll better do without.

Narrator: There isn't a single Universe.
Me: I couldn't care less.
Narrator: It's actually a Multiverse, and each is a clone of the other.
Me: I hope other "Me's" have girlfriends.
Narrator: Inter-universal travel is restricted.
Me: I hate the look of me, anyway.
Narrator: Now, one man tries to break the rules. He wants to be "The One".
Me: Now if you live in the same universe as the one I live, this plot is sick. It does not hold a drop of water.

The One has Jet Li playing Gabe, a cop who soon discovers his evil double from another universe has come to kill him. There, I've given the entire plot out. Are you wondering why he's got to kill all other "Him's"? You got to see the movie. Just a piece of advice here: curiosity never helped anyone.

This flick is among the worst things ever, in this particular universe. If you think otherwise, you don't belong to my Universe. Am I being too caustic? Okay, I do have some good words for it... The movie has a great duration. Just about gets to the wrong side of an hour.

To be fair, the plot does seem to have a lot of potential, but it just doesn't connect here. The acting is poor, the dialogues are simply atrocious and the script never existed. Hope my message carries to all the "Me's" in the "Multiverse" and that the other "I's" don't make the mistake I made.
