Courtesy a private TV channel, we are all aware of the naked truths of life. No, we are not talking of any news channel here. We are referring to the channel that has brought Shakeela into every home. And as far as movies go, what the south thinks today Bollywood thinks tomorrow. Here, then, keeping with the trend is High Society.
Rita, dressed in a red bikini top and a red sarong draped over a black bikini bottom, is a prospective candidate for the position of Rahul's personal secretary. Please, it is absolutely necessary that you get a clear picture of what she was wearing. Partly because it is highly essential to the story. Mostly because beyond this point we are going to concentrate more on what she is not wearing.
Her interview is not going all that well until she reveals to Rahul the two best references only a woman can cite. We can only assume that the references were mind-blowing because the censor board thought it wise to keep them from us. She is hired, and her first assignment is to broker a multi-crore deal by sleeping with Kanhaya Lal (Tej Sapru).
That done, she goes to Rahul's home. While they engage in something best left to Shakeela, Rahul is hit by a sudden bolt of realization. If he goes through with this, there is the possibility that Rita will be the only woman he would ever be with. Spurred by this feeling of angst, he strangles her to death.
This had the theater heave a collective sigh of grimace - there goes a woman who is willing to shed much more than her inhibitions. But Rita's demise paves the way for Tanya who shows us that there are ways in which you can wear less than what Rita did, and still manage to not get scissored by the CBFC.
Tanya meets with the same fate as Rita, which brings to the fore Sonia. Again, Sonia and Rahul are in the throes of their contrived passion when Rahul is hit by his eccentricity. This time we know that Sonia is not going to die because, unlike the other women, she did the smart thing of darting her tongue in his mouth.
Sonia turns out to be a CID officer under cover. Really, that is taking the job description a little too far but what do we know? But Sonia returns to defend him in his trial. She gives us a flashback of Rahul's mom's, Sonal's, philandering ways. Rahul, a la Freud, saw her in the nude which scarred him for life.
We do not know how Sonia unearthed the exact details of Sonal's extra-marital affairs to the extent of telling us the color of her underwear, or even the lack of one, but the audience seemed not to mind it at all. Anyways, the judge sentences Rahul to five years. This signals the end to three hours of sleaze.
Since this movie belongs to a genre where the only thing that matters is what shows and what doesn't we are not going to comment on any aspect. Perhaps just tell you that the acting is not going to stir any great emotions in you. Surprisingly, the songs are not as bad as one would expect.
Basically, it is a movie you would catch if two people getting it on with their clothes on does it for you.
