Evil Dead 3 (Hindi) Review

Get a complete brainwash of the horror and thrills from the earlier editions of the movie, and go here expecting a corny comedy - and you just might escape being disappointed. Script has never been the strong point in a Raimi production and Part 3 doesn't bother to change such celebrated opinion.

Accidental hero, Ash (Campbell), has been transported back in time to 14th century Europe by the powerful "Book of the Dead". His only hope to get back to the 20th century is to retrieve the volume before the Deadites, an army of skeletons led by his evil alter ego, use its powers to take over the world.

Mostly goreless, this overly ambitious sequel to Evil Dead - 2 features some hilarious slapstick and an array of tacky one-liners perfectly delivered by star/co-producer Campbell, who proves even more outrageous in his cartoonish portrayal of our chainsaw-and-shotgun-sporting hero.

The pace kicks into high gear as Ash battles various demons one-on-one in some of the wackiest situations ever staged in a "horror" film (highlights include an homage to Gulliver's Travels in which a dozen little 'Ashes' come to life, tie him up, and have their mischievous ways with him!).

While Part 3 relies heavily on zany antics and ultimately lacks The Evil Dead 's intense scare tactics, its 'King Arthur's Court-meets-The Three Stooges' formula is undeniably fun, and a must for Raimi fans. But then again, don't go expecting to be scared!
